Music plus baking equals a fun day!

So While I was meal planning this week.. I ran out of ideas by like Wednesday.. I asked Jon what he would like and since he is a guy,and all guys crave pasta, he suggested Pasta..I had mentioned to Jon that at some point I wanted to branch out and try more pasta recipes.  Last week one of my friends told me about making a really delicious Spaghetti Carbonara.. So I begged him to give me the recipe and he did!

So that is going to be our dinner tonight.. I'm slightly nervous about making it because you have to add things at precisely the right time and I don't want the eggs to scramble :P but apparently I cant quit while I'm ahead because I then decided hmm.. "what goes really good with Pasta"... Fresh baked bread.. So I will be making French bread Baguettes.. then I thought.. Why not just go all out and make dessert too. In a decision between Chocolate Lava cake or Strawberry Shortcake ... Strawberry Shortcake won. I usually make drop biscuits to go with strawberry shortcake..but my friend suggested buying a pound cake... Now why buy a pound cake when you can make one.. even if I have never made one..? 

Heres to making things for the first time and everything going smoothly.

Disclaimer: Oh and if the Carbonara totally doesn't work, you know I am totally going to blame my friend.. hehe oh well :P 

Another culinary development that is happening this week/weekend is I am going to attempt to make my own lox/smoked salmon this weekend.. The quality of lox that I can find at the grocery stores in Texas just doesn't cut it.. and most Jewish delis are alll the way in Houston or just far enough away that it would be silly to drive all that way.. Next thing I need to find is a good place for real NY bagels.. hmm.. 

I saw a Foodie no no.. when I was on the way to the grocery store.. I walked over to my car in the apartment parking lot and there was a cucumber and a lime just chilling on the ground in the next spot? Why would you do that?
Can someone tell me what is going on here lol?

Oh they look pretty dang tasty don't they? 

and hmm seems baking has turned into baking during a thunderstorm.. It is getting increasingly darker and more windy outside.. lets hope the power stays on.. * fingers crossed* 

Hm..  I think after this round of baking I am going to clean the oven.. what fun. It is good to clean it once in a while.
