Vacation isn't a break!

So as most of you know I am in Cape Cod. Every year I try to go with my parents, but last year I couldnt go, way too short notice and I had just moved to Texas and needed to get settled in. I reaaaally wanted to go so I knew I would go this year. Time leading up to the vacation flew by, I bought my ticket ahead of time and got way too excited to go to Cape Cod. I wish Jon was able to go this year but there's always next year. I wish this part of the blog was all made up, but my actual trip to Schenectady was horrendous. Long story short I got to Newark and my second flight to Albany was cancelled.. Which means stuck in Newark.. couldn't Get a flight till Sunday..keep in mind this was on a Thursday. So I'm stuck in Newark and united does nothing to help so what do I do... Somehow I thought of the train. If I just get to Penn station I know there is an Amtrak to Albany. Lucky enough all you had to do was take a tram to New jersey transit to Penn station. The good thing about this whole fiasco is I met this lady who also needed to get to Albany and we were going to rent a car but I saved the day and thought of the train. The flight was cancelled because of bad weather buy apparently the weather wasn't too bad... I was supposed to get in at 5:11 pm but instead got home at midnight ..yikes after way too many trains I got home..way too tired and sore. I'm pretty sure this was my worst travel experience and I hope it never happens again. Hope my flights back to Texas go okay. I can't wait to see Jon and cook for him again. This week I made a recipe from Jamie Oliver. I was looking for recipes and my mom thought this sounded really good. All it was, was Bananas stuffed with chocolate and mint. It was the perfect end to a day at the beach. You are supposed to grill them in foil. They turned out to be reaaaally amazing and I'm really happy tI made them. I am really glad that I got to cook for all the people here, I love all of them and I'm Really glad I got to spend time with them. This recipe must really be good because one of my friends already told me she is making the bananas this week. Also I am typing this on my dads iPad so hopefully it doesn't turn out too terrible.I took some pictures but have no way to upload them so I'll upload them when I get back home. I have been really busy this week.. Kayaking and shopping and chilling on the beach and going on walks. Later in the week we are going to go to a flea market. It literally has everything you need. So much fun. I really love going on vacations, just everything about them ..the time off and just being able to relax and I love the change of location. The weather here is also really nice... 80ish degrees and not like 100 like it is in Texas. Thank goodness I hope everyone is having a good week and happy cooking :) let me know if you have any recipe ideas

  1. Whoa! Planes, trains, and automobiles real life style. :-) I'm sure it was pure panic though. Glad you are alright and back in Texas safe.
